In the 280 Group Optimal Product Process the phases and corresponding activities that every product or service goes through are defined. The gates that must be passed through in order to move to the next phase are also identified. Roles and responsibilities are clarified for product management (primarily inbound planning of great new products) and product marketing (primarily outbound ensuring the messaging, positioning, pricing, launch and marketing get customers motivated to purchase). The tasks that must be done by each of the participants during each phase are also clearly identified.
The 280 Group Optimal Product Management LifeCycle Process is modern, up-to-date and applies to today’s product management and product marketing challenges and provides the following benefits:
- Covers ALL phases of the product lifecycle
- Supports and builds on an industry standard
- Has corresponding vendor-neutral certifications
- Can be completely customized for any company and development methodology
- Provides for continuous improvement of product management and product marketing functions
- Leverages work and skills across teams as well as companies and industries
Additionally, the Optimal Product Management Process and Methodology includes the nine key documents that correspond to each phase in the product management lifecycle (included in the Product Management LifeCycle Toolkit.) These nine documents are designed to provide a foundation for anyone using the process to ensure that all critical product considerations are taken into account.
